We currently have ten items on exhibit at our education centre that have been confiscated and donated by the Border Force CITES team located at Heathrow airport.

The UK Border Force at Heathrow airport seizes illegal goods including taxidermied endangered species and herbal medicines. The government agency is a world leader in identifying and preventing the unlawful trade in endangered animals and plant material.

We use these items as learning resources to teach people about different aspects surrounding the illegal wildlife trade. By getting up close and personal to these items you can see the impact first hand, whilst learning about why/how these products enter the black market.

Items include caiman skulls, leopard fur, snake skin and crocodile skin products, herbal medicines and more!

We welcome students in need of live specimens for their academic projects to use our live specimen collection to gather data. There is no charge for this service as it helps contribute towards scientific studies.

These projects can include behavioural observations or physical data collection from a range of reptile, invertebrate and amphibian specimens.

Please Note - All ethics forms from your academic institute must be approved before any data collection can take place.

If you have any questions or a project idea, please feel free to contact us for more information.

We currently run five campaigns at our exotic animal education centre and during outreach education sessions. These campaigns are used to raise awareness about five serious issues that are causing the destruction of biodiversity and human health across our planet. We are currently helping communities to understand these problems in order for them to become involved in helping to solve them.

Our current campaigns are:

Single-use Plastics

Sustainable use of Palm Oil

The Amphibian Crisis (Chytrid Fungus)

The Snake Bite Crisis

Impacts of the Illegal Wildlife Trade
